Poetry and Performance

May 2015

05.08.2015 – 05.09.2015

The apparent disappearance of poetry from the publishing and trade scenes in no way implies its disappearance from literature. On the contrary, poetry today is very much alive, in all languages and cultural arenas. Poetry continues to question existence, society, daily life, and the very essence of language. It is expressed through a variety of regenerating modes, and manifests itself in oral forms, both multiple and singular. The International Writers’ House in Beirut celebrates this diversity of poetry and of its practices during its second round of encounters, in collaboration with University of Rennes 2.  The Lebanese capital will host twelve poets and performers, from eight different countries, who will be invited to celebrate poetry and to present their texts.
